Thinking Day 2017 #LetsGrow
Posted on 5 March 2017
Somercotes Guides joined 150 other Guides, Brownies and Rainbows from Alfreton District to celebrate World Thinking Day 2017. World Thinking Day is celebrated by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the world on 22 February each year.
It is a day of international friendship and solidarity. There are 10 million Girl Guides and Girl Scouts across the world!
This year’s world theme is Grow. We believe that every girl should have the chance to grow, learn and reach her potential. We believe that more girls should be able to be part of the Girl Guide and Girl Scout movement.
The Guides, Brownies and Rainbows took part in activities to help them grow:
-
growing their creativity through storytelling and art
-
growing their skills through team working challenges
-
growing their sense of citizenship through helping others
They also thought of ways of growing their groups by sharing the fun and friendship of the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts movement.
The girls then took over South Normanton in a giant treasure hunt for ‘seeds’ and finished off the day by planting a tree seed to grow themselves alongside their hopes, aspirations and achievements.
