Cop Boss Lifts Prize Draw!

Posted on 13 December 2016

Derbyshire Police Crime Commissioner Hardyl Dhindsa helped us choose our Grand Christmas Prize Draw winner on Monday 12 December.  With a ‘star’ prize of £100 along with a large number of generous donations from local businesses, the prize draw is helping us to raise money for our forthcoming trip to India in 2018.

A group of 12 Guides and leaders will be travelling to the World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts (WAGGGS) world centre in Pune in August 2018 where we will be helping at various community projects in the area, including a local orphanage.  Before travelling home, the Guides will also visit the Taj Mahal for a sunrise tour.

This is a once in a lifetime trip for the Guides.  They will be able to meet other young people from around the world, develop their confidence and learn new skills which will help them in their future lives.

The Guides aim to raise £20,000 for the trip and have a number of fundraising activities planned.  The young people are already developing their entrepreneurial skills through ‘The Dragon’s Apprentice Challenge’.  In an unexpected but very kind gesture, the winner of the £100 prize draw prize, Lynn Coulton, donated her winnings to the Guides India fund. Thank you so very much Lynn, Hardyl, Counsellor Paul Smith and all the local businesses who donated prizes for supporting the Guides.
